  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 pieces carrots sliced into thin rounds
  • 2 small yellow onions chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 0.5 cup dry white wine like pinot grigio
  • 2 pieces fresh tomatoes diced
  • 3 tablespoons butter cut into pats
  • 10 pieces lasagna noodles cooked according to package directions
  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup more milk if sauce is too thick
  • 0.5 tablespoon butter additional for sauce adjustment
  • 1 tablespoon flour additional for sauce adjustment
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese shredded
  • salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet. Add sliced carrots and chopped onions; cook for 3 minutes. Add minced garlic; cook for 1 minute.
  2. Add ground beef; cook until browned, breaking into pieces. Pour in wine; simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Stir in diced tomatoes; bring to a boil. Reduce to simmer; cook for 15 minutes.
  4. Prepare béchamel sauce: melt butter, whisk in flour, slowly add milk while whisking, season with salt and pepper, cook until thickened.
  5. Preheat oven to 400°F. Cook lasagna noodles according to package. Grease baking dish. Spread béchamel on bottom.
  6. Layer noodles, meat sauce, béchamel, repeating layers. Sprinkle Parmesan and dot with butter.
  7. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes until browned and bubbly. Rest for 15 minutes before serving.
