  • 1 large onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 2 tbsp butter or ghee
  • 1 lb lean ground lamb
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 0.5 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 chili chili pepper (minced)
  • 2 tbsp fresh cilantro (chopped)
  • 0.25 cup tomato sauce
  • 0.25 cup frozen peas
  • salt and fresh pepper

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. In a large saute pan, heat ghee or butter and onions on medium heat. Cook about 5 minutes, until soft.
  2. Add garlic and ginger; cook another 1 to 2 minutes.
  3. Add ground lamb to the pan and brown thoroughly.
  4. Season with coriander, cayenne, cumin, chili powder, turmeric, garam masala, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
  5. Add chopped chili pepper, cilantro, bay leaf, tomato sauce, and 1/2 cup water. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. Add frozen peas and simmer covered for another 5 minutes.

Notes

This ground lamb dish pairs well with rice or flatbread for a complete meal.
