Preparation Steps
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Add a tablespoon of kosher salt to the water. Drain and rinse with cold water. Peel the eggs and separate the yolks from the whites.
- Chop the egg whites and set aside. Mash the yolks in a bowl. Add mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar, garlic, salt, paprika, and cayenne pepper to the yolks. Mix until smooth.
- Combine cooked pasta with the deviled egg mixture. Add red onion, green onions, and egg whites. Stir to combine. Garnish with extra green onions and bacon if using. Serve immediately or refrigerate.
Notes
This salad is best served cold and can be made a few hours in advance for the flavors to meld.
